STATUS QUO

Even though the topic of climate change has gained increasing attention and approval among the general public in recent years, many people are still uncertain about the basic facts and reliable sources concerning climate change. Likewise, there are hardly any concrete steps on the individual level towards solving climate change.

WORLD CLIMATE COUNCIL IPCC

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change - IPCC for short - is the most serious and reliable source for facts about climate change. Hundreds of scientists from all over the world work voluntarily on the reports of the IPCC, which are checked by hundreds of other experts in a meticulous and transparent review process and finally recognized by all 195 member states.

THE BRIDGE

A comprehensible bridge from the international climate scientists
(of the IPCC) to the public is needed.

STATUS
QUO

Who is behind Climaware?

Gabriel A. Baunach

FOUNDER

Hi, I am Gabriel and I am 28 years old.
I studied mechanical engineering with a specialization in power engineering (BSc. RWTH) because renewable energies are a key to solving the climate crisis (RWTH Aachen, London School of Economics, Stanford University, Boston University). Al Gore's documentary 'An inconvenient truth' awakened my passion for climate change in 2007. Since then I have been able to follow this passion with professional experience (UNFCCC, BMW, Forschungszentrum Jülich, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research).

But not only professionally, but also in my spare time I have been educating myself in the topic of climate change and have been involved in voluntary work. This broadened my perspective and led to the decision to found Climaware (COP25, Fridays For Future, Pulse of Europe, essay competitions, climate reading, interviews). It's great that you are involved! In the 6th episode of the Climaware Podcast you will learn even more about me.
